List Fixed (Again) — 6 weeks ago

About once a year someone decides this list sucks (which it does) and takes it out on us all by destroying the list. The latest was a particularly brutal hack job (sort of like putting Meet the Fockers at #25).

The list is back to 100. Please take your comedic vengeance out on Bravo, not on Lists of Bests.
Thanks!

Did someone remove 25 movies off of this list? Or is this site being weird for me?

Worst List Ever! — 12 weeks ago

List is way too skewed towards more recent (and unfunny) films. Leaving “Some Like it Hot” and “Bringing up Baby” off the list is borderline criminal. Much of what passes for comedy these days is uninspired formula crap!

“Rushmore” and “Dodgeball” don’t belong in the top 500 comedies, much less in the top 50. “Police Academy”, “Half Baked”, Dazed and Confused”, “3 Amigos”, and “Anchorman” do not belong on ANY “Best of… lists.

Many of these films are a question of tastes, and there are certainly fans of “Ace Ventura”, “Kingpin”, “Dumb and Dumber”, “Old School”, “Bill and Ted”, and “Legally Blonde” out there – but no one should delude themselves into thinking these movies are comedy classics. They are time-wasters at best. “Napoleon Dynamite” is certainly not to my taste, but I can at least accept that there was something about it that many found original.

There WERE funny films made before 1980, but BRAVO seems to think that their audience is too young to be familiar with any of them. Too bad. There are dozens of truly great original comedies out there that no one will watch, because viewers believed that “Harold and Kumar” and “Clueless” were representative of some of the best of American comedies.

1 – #4 are top-notch and it’s difficult to argue with any of them. “South Park”, “Ace Ventura”, and “Wedding Singer” belong way way down on the list – if they belong on it at all.

Where’s “Used Cars”, “Ruthless People”, and “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein”?

If “When Harry Met Sally” qualifies, where is “The Philadelphia Story” or “It Happened One Night”? Nothing by Chaplin, Keaton, or Lloyd is better than “The Birdcage” or “40 Year Old Virgin”? Give me a break. Nothing by the Marx Brothers beats “School of Rock”?

This list is totally insulting to anyone who knows anything about movie history. I feel embarrassment for the celebrities who associated themselves with this project. Assuming I was given the chance to oversee the list before getting involved, I wouldn’t have touched it with a ten foot pole!

Wow — 21 weeks ago

I can’t believe Monty Python is so far down the list and ELECTION is even on the friggin list.

Please don't re-order the list — 1 year ago

While I agree this list is majorly flawed (Princess Bride only at #50? The Wedding Crashers on of the top 20 comedies of all time?), it is a fixed list by Bravo. Complain to them. Please do not re-order, delete, or add entries to the list. Thanks!
