National Book Critics Circle Award (Fiction)

I’m confused about the 1986 winner. On this and other lists (Powell’s, Amazon’s, etc.), Kate Vaiden is listed as the winner. However, on the NBCC website, A Summons to Memphis is listed as the winner and Kate Vaiden is listed as a finalist. I always had Kate Vaiden down as the winner on my list and now I’m very confused. Any ideas?
