Clearly. No Dostoevsky, no Nabokov, no Gogol – I was half expecting Terry Prachett to show up. The fact that so many books that are clearly not classics are on this list (The Curious Incident.., Lovely Bones) renders it even sillier. Who makes up this nonsense?

Is it fair to call this list ‘silly’ simply because it contains books you don’t deem classics? Did it occur to you that some, perhaps many, of these so-called classics were, in their time, nothing but scandalous claptrap? I would agree that maybe there’s too much fantasy on this list, but if you don’t agree with its author, write you own list.
